WHAT MAKES OUR CIDER DIFFERENT?
Since 2013, using our secret family recipe and proprietary yeast, we’ve honored the delicious, natural flavor of table-worthy fruit (apples or pears) and their juice by leaving some of the sweetness intact by not fermenting it until it’s completely dried out. The result is a bold, semi-sweet hard cider that is gluten-free, unfiltered and unpasteurized, with no sulfites or back-sweetening. Our cidery is ranked one of the top 25 in the world. One taste and you’ll know why.
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE OLD MINE AND THE FACTORY?
The Old Mine is a full restaurant, The Factory is a production cider taproom. Both serve food, cider, beer, cocktails, and more. If you’re looking for a place to take the family and enjoy our full food menu in an historic, downtown brick building with a cool back patio – The Old Mine is your place. If you want to see where the cider is made, enjoy straight-from-the-source tastings, cocktails on draft, a smaller food and beer menu, and relax in our peaceful, adults-only option that’s perfect for date night – check out The Factory.
WHY A HANDLEBAR MUSTACHE?
In the 1870’s, Erie was the most important coal town in all of Colorado. You could tell a true miner because he sported a waxed and manicured mustache as part of his proper gentleman’s attire. Back then, a miner’s mustache was full of coal dust. Today, anyone’s upper lip can be coated in a thin layer of our liquid gold cider.
WHAT MAKES OUR FOOD DIFFERENT?
From our house-made sauces and pizza dough to the special dry-rubs on the chicken we smoke out back, crafting fresh and delicious flavors is our passion. We also value supporting businesses and sourcing the best possible ingredients. Our Bavarian pretzels are hand-made by Klaus and his sons in Denver, providing us a “true taste of the Alps." Our Handlebar Donuts are lovingly made with our Handlebar Hard Cider at Loback’s Bakery in Buena Vista, and the incredible mozzarella on our pizza is from Grande Cheese Company – the very same dairy plant our owner John worked at growing up.

Colorado Sunshine takes Handlebar and infuses it with a burst of citrus, pear, and pineapple flavor from added Citra Hops. Like a smooth, apple-infused IPA, it's the cider of choice for discerning craft beverage drinkers. 7% ABV
Each sip is like a bite into a juicy, perfectly ripe pear. Made from 100% pear juice, it's a pearfectly crafted balance of sweet and dry, crisp and delicious. We make a great pear. 7% ABV
